MacDowell Colony Fellow, 2014 - 2015

Part 3: Artwork

During my stay at the MacDowell Colony I began working on a new series of tableaux pictures. They are constructed from the hundreds of close-range photos I took of animals in zoos this past winter. Based on natural history paintings, the photographs depict zoological and botanical subjects attempting to adapt to changes in their environment.
Preparing for my studio open house and presentation.

New work in progress.

Here is the Alexander Studio, ca. 1922. There was a dance party here on my birthday.
